1. What Semkex is
Semkex is a browser extension that lets users capture and reuse work from supported AI websites and, when enabled, from normal browsing pages as well. It supports saved items, images, screenshots, notes, tags, drafts, and optional AI-assisted actions on selected saved material.
2. What Semkex stores locally
Semkex is local-first for saved user content. By default, it stores saved material on the user's device through extension-managed local storage.
- Saved prompts, answers, notes, tags, titles, URLs, and thread metadata
- Saved images, files, screenshots, and related media metadata such as size and dimensions
- Temporary drafts used to collect work before reuse
- Extension settings and local interface preferences
3. What Semkex reads from pages
Semkex only reads page content needed for user-triggered capture and reuse features. On supported AI sites, this may include the latest prompt and answer, visible thread content, page title, and page URL. On normal websites, this may include selected text, page title, page URL, or the image element the user chose through the context menu.
4. When data is sent to Semkex servers
If the user chooses AI chat features, selected saved material and the user's instruction may be sent securely to Semkex services in order to generate the requested result. This processing is optional and only happens when the user actively uses those AI-assisted features. Semkex AI usage may be subject to weekly service protections and usage limits so the service can stay reliable.
If the user signs in to a Semkex account, authentication information including name and email address obtained through Google Sign-In or email registration is used solely to identify the user's account and manage their subscription and usage. This information is not sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

What stays local
Saving, browsing, tagging, editing, draft handling, and local search do not require sending saved content to Semkex servers.
5. AI service providers
AI chat requests may be processed using OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), or Mistral infrastructure, depending on Semkex service configuration and the user's selected region or preference. API credentials used for that processing are stored server-side by Semkex and are not shipped inside the browser extension package.
6. How information is used
- To provide capture, storage, search, organization, and reuse features requested by the user
- To support drafts, saved items, linked media, and other working material inside the extension
- To provide optional AI-assisted analysis when the user explicitly requests it
- To authenticate the user and manage their Semkex account and subscription
- To troubleshoot issues and improve Semkex
7. Data sharing
Semkex is not designed to sell user data. Locally saved user content is not shared with third parties except when necessary to provide user-requested AI chat features through Semkex services and configured AI provider infrastructure.
8. Retention and control
Local content remains on the user's device until the user edits or deletes it, or removes the extension and its stored data. Users can stop automatic capture features at any time and can delete saved items, drafts, and media through the extension interface. Account data may be deleted by contacting Semkex support or using the account deletion option in the user portal.
9. Security
Semkex is designed to keep saved content local by default and to avoid embedding AI provider API keys inside the extension itself. No system can guarantee perfect security, but Semkex is built to reduce unnecessary exposure of user content and credentials.
10. Remote code
Semkex does not load or execute remote code for extension functionality. If the user chooses AI-assisted features, the extension may send selected content and instructions to Semkex services as a normal network request, but it does not download and run code from the server.
11. Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The latest version will be published at this page with an updated revision date.
